04 Aug 2022 In recent years, a rich dialogue has emerged in Asia on the impact of business operations on human rights and the environment. According to experts, an estimated 92% of the population in the Asia-Pacific region is exposed to unhealthy levels of air pollution, putting people, livelihoods, and economies at risk. The current report, ‘Asia in Focus: Clean Air and the Business and Human Rights Agenda,’ provides an overview of the current state of air pollution in the region and makes recommendations for policy action, taking inspiration from the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The report is developed by UNDP in partnership with the European Union and written in collaboration with Economist Impact. The report is supplemented by a webcast series and interactive digital platform by the same name. Explore the Asia in Focus: Clean Air and Business & Human Rights platform here.
