Intangible cultural heritage safeguarding and climate action in Asia and the Pacific

Intangible Cultural Heritage Safeguarding and Climate Action in Asia and the Pacific explores how living heritage contributes to climate resilience, adaptation, and sustainable development across the region. Drawing on 15 evidence-based case studies from Asia-Pacific countries, the publication highlights how communities use traditional knowledge, cultural practices, and community-based strategies to respond to climate change. It demonstrates the interconnectedness of cultural heritage and environmental sustainability, and illustrates practical ways to implement UNESCO’s Guidance Note on Climate Action for Living Heritage (2024), while promoting rights-based, people-centred, and community-led climate action.
