04 Jun 2025 School health and nutrition (SHN) programmes are among the most widely adopted public policies globally, recognized for their impact on improving health, nutrition, and learning outcomes among school-age children and adolescents. Despite their proven benefits, many children in Asia-Pacific still lack access to these critical services.This Snapshot compiles key global and regional data on SHN programming in Asia-Pacific, drawing from the 2022 global report Ready to Learn and Thrive: School Health and Nutrition Around the World, alongside region-specific data analysis. It was presented by the Asia-Pacific Thematic Working Group on School Health, Nutrition and Well-being during the regional webinar launch on 20 June 2023.The publication highlights six core messages from the global report, calling for stronger action from the education sector and its partners to enhance, expand, and monitor SHN programmes. By holistically addressing students’ needs, these efforts aim to ensure that every child and adolescent has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
